Introducing Scala Packages: A fast, modern search for Scala libraries

:rocket: Introducing Scala Packages: https://pkg.scalanews.net

A fast, modern search for Scala libraries:

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Every Scala library on Maven Central: JVM, Scala.js, Scala Native, and sbt & Mill plugins
:new_button: New projects and new releases on the home page, plus an Atom feed
:puzzle_piece: Free JSON API, no key needed
:robot: MCP server, so AI assistants can search packages and fetch install snippets: claude mcp add --transport http scalapkg https://pkg.scalanews.net/mcp

It complements Scala News (https://www.scalanews.net): the newsletter for what the community is writing, and Scala Packages for what it’s releasing.

Also, Neovim users: scaladex.nvim now searches Scala Packages :tada:

Cool to see! Might be useful to have the MCP tool.

What do you feel is better or different than Scaladex does?

And also, how are you working around the limits that Sonatype enforces on using their APIs or accessing maven central? Or maybe it’s something you didn’t encounter the problems with?

It seems pkg.scalanews.net has more packages included than scaladex.(e.g. my friend has a package named sqala and it could be found in this site but not in scaladex.). Also this site supports typo search, e.g. I can find upickle using upackle as search keyword
