Guidance for GSOC 2017

Hello,
I’m Vishesh Chauhan currently pursuing B.Tech from IIT(BHU), India.
I’d really like to take up some project in Scala for this year’s GSOC.
I have knowledge of Scala and Functional Programming.
Can someone point me in the right direction or suggest what my next steps should be?
Will really appreciate any kind of guidance.
