Coursera capstone temperature files

A couple of years ago I followed the Coursera Scala suite of courses. The final course involved generating colorized maps of the earth using a set of data files that we downloaded from the Coursera website. At that time the temperature files included data from 1975 to 2015. The files were named 1975.csv, 1976.csv, … 2015.csv

Does anyone know where the files came from? I’d like to get the more recent files for 2016 through 2019.

The content of each file contains measurements for a particular year indicated by its file name. The format of each file looks like this, containing a weather station id, month and day, and finally a measured temperature for that day

007070,,09,25,87.8
007070,,09,26,62.3
008411,,01,01,82.9
008411,,01,02,83.3
008411,,01,03,82.9
008411,,01,04,83.6
008411,,01,05,81.7
008411,,01,06,82.7
008411,,01,07,83.3
008411,,01,08,81.9

I looked back in the Coursera website and downloaded the resources again (the interface allowed me to do re-download them 2 years later). It seems the temperature files still range from 1975 to 2015.

It would be interesting to have the files up to 2019

I’ve no idea where those data files are from, but if you are interested in global temperature data, check https://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/.
